Heaven on Earth

Like Chinese classical water-brush painting, the beauty of this tour is elegant serenity. Eastern China culture flourished for two thousand years leaving a rich legacy of art and architecture. You will visit Suzhou, once the capital of Wu Kingdom & Kunqu Opera, and Hangzhou, once the capital of China. For the socio-economic structure of a longlived settled period of Chinese history, then on to Xidi and Hong Cun villages, over nearly a millennium, the locals preserved their traditional life style and their houses despite revolution and disasters, the same happened in the small water town Xitang. Relax at Jiuhua Shan, one of four sacred Buddhist mountain of China. Short hike in Huang Shan, known as 'the loveliest mountain of China', fascinated by poets, painters and photographers who come on pilgrimage to the site.


Day 1 Los Angeles/Beijing.

Day 2 Beijing (D)
Arrive in Beijing. Join the locals at People’s Culture Palace, which is Taichi practitioners’ paradise. Walk to the Forbidden City and visit, after lunch visit Lama Temple and Hutong area.

Day 3 Beijing (B, L, D)
A day excursion to the Great Wall and Summer Palace. Enjoy Peking duck dinner.

Day 4 Beijing - Suzhou (B, L, D)
Visit Temple of Heaven, the masterpiece of Imperial Temple. Afternoon take a train to Suzhou, a charming garden city, blessed by the ancient Grand Canal - the longest man-made waterway of the world.

Day 5 Suzhou (B, L, D)
Walk into two of the finest gardens of Suzhou: Humble Administrator’s Garden and Lingering Garden, continue to Suzhou museum, visit the original city gate of Wu State - Penman gate, later take a walk on Pingjiang road of old town, where you will find the streets and the waterways are paralleled, stop by the old Opera Theatre, you may have chance to see the classic Qun Qu ‘The Peony Pavilion’.

Day 6 Suzhou - Hangzhou (B, L, D)
Drive to Hangzhou via Xitang - a charming water town, many of the houses built over two hundred years. Enjoy a boat ride. Arrive Hangzhou before dinner.

Day 7 Hangzhou (B, L, D)
Drive to Lingyin Temple, one of largest temple of China, visit the temple and a large number of grottos and religious rock carvings. Travel to the village of Longjing tea on the picturesque Lion Hill; see how the tea is selected. Continue to Grand Canal Museum, walk onto Gongchen Bridge - the oldest bridge on Grand Canal. Enjoy a boat ride in West Lake. Stroll through the remodeled old street “Qinghefang”.

Day 8 Hangzhou - Jiuhua Shan (B, L, D)
Travel to Mount Jiuhua Shan, en route stop by Shexian county to observe the oldest dam of Southern China, also walk to the Archway, was built in classical Chinese style.

Day 9 Jiuhua Shan (B, L, D)
A day exploring the temples including Huacheng Si, Zhiyuan Si, Baisui Palace and Ganlu Si.

Day 10 Jiuhua Shan - Huang Shan (B, L, D)
Drive to Huang Shan and take a cable car up to the top. Leisurely walk around, enjoy its magnificent scenery made up of many granite peaks and rocks emerging out of a sea of clouds.

Day 11 Huang Shan - Villages - Shanghai (B, L, D)
Early start for Southern Anhui plain. A day exploring small villages Xidi and Hong Cun, UNESCO sites of Southern Anhui. Drive to airport for an evening flight to Shanghai.

Day 12 Shanghai (B, L, D)
Visit Shanghai Museum and Urban Planning Museum. Stroll along the Bund, continue to Yuyuan plaza. Visit famous Jade Buddha temple. Tonight you will enjoy a farewell dinner.

Day 13 Shanghai/Los Angeles (B)
Morning at leisure. In the afternoon begin your homeward journey.
