Discover the beauty and wonder of the Three Gorges as you cruise thru the dramatic gorges before heading south to the picture-perfect landscapes of Guilin and Yangshuo. Fly to Xian, home to the incredibly lifelike Terracotta Warriors, a melting pot of cultures and rich in historical sites. Your journey ends among the spectacular palaces and stunning temples of Beijing, the historical and cultural heart of the Middle Kingdom.


Day 1: Depart for Shanghai

Day 2: Shanghai
Arrive Shanghai, “Paris of the East”, merely a fishing village two hundred years ago, and today it is the commercial center of China. Get the feel of the pulsating city by having a walk in Xintiandi, a fashionable pedestrian street which holds the historical and cultural legacies of the city with exterior of the Shikumen housing of old Shanghai, at the end of day have a boat ride on the Huangpu River - an evocative way to appreciate both the past and present of Shanghai.

Day 3: Shanghai (B, L, D)
Visit a charming Classical Chinese Yu garden in the Old Town. Walk around Yuyuan Shangcheng Plaza, the old shopping center renovated in its traditional style. Later drive across Huangpu River to visit Shanghai Jinmao Tower, from the top of which you can appreciate the panoramic view of Shanghai. In the afternoon visit Shanghai Museum, one of the best museums in China. If it interests you, Shanghai Urban Planning Museum can be well worth of a visit. Explore the ‘Bund’ waterfront where you can have a feeling of both the past and present of Shanghai, if time permits.

Day 4: Shanghai - Yichang (B, L, D)
Fly to Yichang around noon time, starting point for Yangtze River cruise. After a short tour of Yichang, you will board onto deluxe Yangtze River Cruise for a 4-night stay. Enjoy the Welcome banquet.

Day 5: Three Gorges Tour (B, L, D)
Today you will pass through the Three Gorges Ship Lock (5-stage) and will visit the massive Three Gorges Dam, the world’s largest hydroelectric project. Next is the most scenic Xiling Gorge.

Day 6: Three Gorges Tour (B, L, D)
Unforgettable scenery unfolds as you cruise through the first of the fabled Three Gorges: Qutang Gorge hemmed by towering cliffs. Shore excursion to Shennong stream to see its scenic small gorges. Sail on and pass through Wu Gorge, known for its lofty Twelve Peaks.

Day 7: Three Gorges Tour (B, L, D)
Enjoy the dramatic scenery and opportunity to observe life on the river, boats stop frequently to visit cities, towns and tourist sites. Today the Shore excursion is to Fengdu, the Ghost Town in Chinese culture. Enjoy the farewell dinner party tonight.

Day 8: Chongqing - Guilin (B, L, D)
Disembark in the morning. Fly to Guilin, as Chinese regard its scenery ‘the most scenic on the earth’ it is indeed the God’s own creature. Take an excursion to Longsheng to see the spectacular terraced rice fields.

Day 9: Guilin - Yangshuo (B, L, D)
You will head down to the docks for catching a boat up the Li River. Enjoy the superb river cruise on Li River from Guilin to Yangshuo, the river itself is a poem, Limestone karsts islands rise up from the mist, quaint, tiny villages line the shore and children swim by the bank. Lunch is bought from the local fishermen and served on board. Around noon, you will go ashore at the old market town of Yangshuo. Yangshuo, the most laid-back town in China, is a great place to explore small villages in the nearby countryside. You can wander the cafes and stores along the main streets and have a bicycle ride out to some of the nearby villages.

Day 10: Yangshuo - Guilin - Xian (B, L, D)
Drive to Guilin for a flight to Xian. Visit Han Yanling Museum, based on excavation of Han Mausoleum, which is mainly composed of the Emperor and Empress’ graveyards, is found the most intact royal Mausoleum of Han dynasty with fine terracotta figurines reveals the daily life of Han dynasty about 2100 years ago. In Xian you will visit the Big Goose Pagoda to listen to the stories of the Silk Road and ‘the Journey to West’.

Day 11: Xian (B, L, D)
Today is filled with unforgettable highlights: start with the Old City wall, the only complete city wall that exists out of all the ancient capitals of China, you will find many local Chinese practice Tai Chi in the early morning around the old city wall; marvel at extraordinary terra-cotta army, buried with the emperor for 2200 years, Circle Vision Movie and the Bronze Chariot; return Xian and wander throught the fascinating Muslim Quarter and visit Shaanxi History Museum. Tonight you will enjoy a delicious dumpling dinner.

Day 12: Xian - Beijing (B, D)
Fly to Beijing. Travel to Great Wall at Mutianyu. The Great Wall was first built by Emperor Qin Shi Huang, who unified China in 2 Century BC. Drive to Beijing to visit the bustling Hongqiao market. Beijing’s delicacy, Peking duck is awaiting for your tasting this evening.

Day 13: Beijing (B, L, D)
Rise up early to get to Temple of Heaven, you will find many local people practice Tai Chi inside the temple. Walk throught the incredible expanse of Ti’ananmen Square before continuing on foot to the extravagant Ming-era Imperial Palace in the Forbidden City. Head into one of Beijing’s few remaining hutongs (backstreets) for lunch in a local home, later have a rickshaw ride. Enjoy a visit to Lama Temple before dinner. Tonight you will enjoy a traditional Peking Opera.

Day 14: Beijing/USA (B)
Transfer to airport for your homeward flight.
